Hi, I’m Dr. Mihkaya Best, LPCC

Navigating autism shouldn’t be a solo journey.

Supporting individuals with autism and the caregivers who walk alongside them has become one of the greatest passions in my professional journey. Throughout my education and direct experience in the field, I repeatedly observed a gap in care that often begins after diagnosis, when individuals and families are left feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, and wondering, “Okay… what do we do now?”

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. My doctoral research focused on improving access to services for children with autism, and I have continued to build my expertise through specialized training in autism assessment, as well as years of clinical work with neurodivergent children, teens, adults, and their families. My experience also includes graduate-level teaching, school collaboration, and helping families navigate supports such as IEPs, 504 Plans, and BIPs.

I am passionate about helping caregivers and individuals navigate autism in a way that feels personal, supportive, and realistic for everyday life. Whether that means understanding a new diagnosis, figuring out school supports, finding helpful resources, or simply making sense of what comes next, my goal is to make the process feel a little less overwhelming.

Above all, I want to create a space where individuals and families feel understood, empowered, and supported while navigating their own unique autism journey.

Because you shouldn’t have to figure it all out alone, there’s room for you at the Nest
